Patricia Velásquez (@wayuuprincess) conoce muy de cerca las carencias del pueblo wayuu. Ésto la motivó a fundar, hace 18 años Wayuu Taya, una organización que solo tiene como objetivo beneficiar a las comunidades indígenas del estado Zulia.
Un trabajo que no se detiene y que por el contrario se reinventa para lograr favorecer más hogares de Mara, Guajira y Almirante Padilla. “Yo crecí sin agua. Sabemos el gran problema que tenemos de agua allá en la zona y que se ha extendido por todo el Zulia”, señaló la modelo y actriz en una conexión desde Los Ángeles que mantuvo, este 23 de marzo, con los medios de comunicación para explicar los proyectos que desarrolló la fundación pensando en el bienestar de niños, abuelos, mujeres y hombres de las zonas más necesitadas de los mencionados municipios.
Velásquez está satisfecha en el cambio que logra la fundación en las comunidades, “se ha demostrado que sí se puede salir adelante y sí podemos diseñar programas que se conviertan en ejemplo”.
Destacó el trabajo de los aliados y manifiesta orgullo por el liderazgo de los más de 100 voluntarios desplegados para llevar una ayuda a más de 140 mil personas, “ellos son los que ven las necesidades”.
Dice que ante las dificultades deben verse las soluciones, “hay que dejarse de conectar con el sentimiento negativo, esto es un trabajo imparable y llena el alma”.
Foco Informativo le consultó a la actriz hollywoodense qué le ha dejado Wayuu Taya a lo que respondió: “Nosotros somos un trabajo de equipo y sé que soy yo la cara visible, pero sé que lo que me deja a mi es lo mismo que le deja al resto de los que trabajan en Wayuu Taya, una sensación de saber que no importa lo difícil de la situación, es importante entender que sí podemos hacer las cosas cuando nos las proponemos y podemos seguir creciendo hasta cumplir los sueños con colaboración y trabajo en equipo”.
Velásquez desea que se reconozca y apoye la labor que viene realizando la fundación. Indicó que gracias a la colaboración de los aliados adquirió la granja Mirabello, ubicada en el sector La Popular de Mara, con 32 hectáreas de siembra de uvas y dos pozos de agua dulce además, en el sector Camuro, del mismo municipio está la granja Apüna (sendero), donde se lleva a cabo el proyecto de siembra sustentable.
Wayuu Taya tiene objetivos claros y trazados que se resumen a corto plazo en llevar a agua potable a la población, desarrollar la siembra sustentable, crecer con la cocina comunal y a más largo plazo la construcción de una escuela vocacional y un pequeño hotel.
Agua para Todos
La escasez del vital líquido en zonas vulnerables motivó a la fundación a ingeniarse un plan para lograr llevar a escuelas, centros de salud y a las viviendas el agua que no llega por tuberías y que es fundamental en el día a día de las personas.
María Leticia Morales, voluntaria de Wayuu Taya, recalcó que Agua para Todos pretende surtir a las comunidades necesitadas de agua de calidad y gratuita.
Pero, como proyecto autosutentable está creado con la premisa que por la compra de un camión el otro es donado a alguna escuela, comunidad, ambulatorio o institución que lo requiera. Por esta razón hacen un llamado a quienes en la capital zuliana usen el servicio de cisterna llamar al 0412-656.98.11 de la Fundación Wayuutaya.
Siembra sustentable
En granja Apüna hay sembradas dos hectáreas de yuca, frijol chino y maíz. El agrónomo Omer Arria asegura que la siembra sustentable es el rumbo para que las sociedades tengas alimentos seguros y de alta calidad.
Defiende que la tierra debe de ser cuidada y evitar al máximo su degradación. Destaca que desde la Fundación Wayuu Taya se le está enseñando a la gente cómo hacer una rotación de cultivo que colabore con el ambiente para hacerlo sustentable en el tiempo.
Un recibimiento wayuu
El recorrido hecho por los medios de comunicación inició con una bienvenida de los niños de la escuela Nerio Emiro Semprún Polanco «Tepichi Talatshi«, quienes tocaron instrumentos ancestrales y cantaron en wayunaiki.
Alexis Bracho, miembro de la directiva del plantel y líder de los pueblos indígenas, agradeció la visita de los periodistas y destacó que no era coincidencia sino “que Dios los trajo para que difundan el trabajo que hace la Fundación por los wayuu”.
Aclaró que, a pesar de las dificultades se mantienen en “pie de lucha” por los niños que se educan en el «Tepichi Talatshi«.
Rostros de trabajo
Patricia Velásquez tal vez es el rostro al frente o el más conocido, pero detrás de las cámaras hay un equipo que se esfuerza diariamente por lograr los objetivos planteados por la Fundación Wayuu Taya. A continuación presentamos a una muestra del talento humano que con su esfuerzo lleva adelante el hermoso trabajo comunitario en la subregión Guajira:
José Luis Molero Villalobos: “Salgo a las 6.00 de la maña de mi casa y son las 7.00 de la noche y sigo acá trabajando, en la granja Apüna, por las comunidades, a veces quisiéramos darle respuesta a todos, pero contamos solo con cinco toneladas de alimentos semanales. Hoy se atendieron 33 escuelas entre Guajira, Mara e Insular Padilla”.
Leidy Núñez, trabajadora social de Wayuutaya: “Este año iniciamos con el programa Agua para Todos, una acción social para beneficiar a las comunidades con el vital líquido. En este trabajo me siento muy bien, porque se contribuye en cubrir las necesidades y ayudar”.
Yamely Carvajal: “Estar con Wayuu Taya implica muchas cosas bonitas, porque el trabajo social es muy hermoso. Esta fundación ha ayudado mucho a mi sector, donde yo vivo nunca nos ha llegado agua por la ubicación y desde que la Fundación está acá nos brindan el apoyo. Esto es una bendición de Dios por la bonita misión que tienen ellos de ayudar al prójimo”.
