Un grupo del exilio venezolano denunció este viernes que inmigrantes indocumentados de ese país que pueden acogerse al Estatuto de Protección Temporal (TPS, en inglés) otorgado recientemente por el presidente de Estados Unidos, Joe Biden, están siendo víctimas de fraudes y abusos por parte de abogados.
Helena Villalonga, dirigente de la Asociación Multicultural de Activistas, Voz y Expresión (Amavex), explicó este viernes a Efe que la organización ha recibido innumerables quejas sobre abogados que cobran entre 1.500 y 2.500 dólares solo por llenar el formulario de inscripción al TPS.
Con la autorización del TPS para venezolanos por un periodo de 18 meses, unos 320.000 de ellos podrán acogerse a este alivio migratorio que los protege de la deportación y les da la oportunidad de residir y trabajar legalmente en Estados Unidos.
Sin embargo, Villalonga dijo que algunos abogados «están pescando en río revuelto», aprovechando la confusión y desinformación sobre el permiso migratorio otorgado para estos inmigrantes desde el pasado 9 de febrero.
Villalonga subrayó que teme que muchos venezolanos desistirán de inscribirse por falta de recursos o confusión.
