Este miércoles 16 de junio de 2021, el Zulia cumple un año que perdió al primer médico fallecido por COVID-19, cuando aquella madrugada de ese martes falleció en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos del Hospital Universitario Samuel Viloria, quien encabezó la lista de galenos que perdieron la batalla por causa de la pandemia que azota al mundo.
Viloria fue director del Hospital Universitario durante la gestión del gobernador Francisco Arias Cárdenas y estuvo al frente del centro de salud desde 2015 hasta 2017, también perteneció a la directiva del Hospital Adolfo Pons.
El médico había recibido un trasplante renal y era diabético, lo que complicó su cuadro ante el contagio.
Desde ese momento la región zuliana lamenta la perdida de 106 médicos confirmados uno a uno por Foco Informativo con fuentes médicas.
